Go to the polls! An appeal from bamberg

Go to the polls! An appeal from bamberg

In the last federal election in 2013, the turnout in the electoral district 236 bamberg-forchheim was 70.5 percent (electoral district kulmbach 70.96 percent). This means not only that almost 30 percent of eligible voters did not go to the polls, but also that the turnout had dropped by a few percentage points compared to the election in 2009: 72.83 percent of voters cast their ballots then. The question is: will this election on the 24th of this year. September will be another downturn?

Six people want to prevent this with an appeal: they all go to the polls as a matter of course.

Johannes marx, professor of political science at the university of bamberg: "political scientists observe an increasing alienation of citizens from the political system and its elites. This process is a mystery to me. Would you agree to the following trade? They trade their lives here for one in a country chosen at random by me. Welfare state, health care system, freedom and participation rights are at stake, among other things. I would not trade. This is not to deny that germany has rough tasks to accomplish. But democracies open up many opportunities for you to get involved in the process. Being allowed to vote is a privilege. Take this chance."

Demolition of the slaughterhouse – a chance for coburg?

Demolition of the slaughterhouse - a chance for coburg?

For michael potzl, the ribbon of science is the key to the city's future. The university is prepared. In his speech, however, the university president does not spare criticism of the city and points out its failures.

Mr. Potzl, the ribbon of science – already favored in the 2008 ISEK – is drawing ever closer. What does this mean for coburg university in concrete terms and what exactly does it mean??
Michael plotzl: actually, the question should be: what does this mean for the city?? Because the future of the regions and thus also of coburg will be decided in competition with the metropolises. At first glance, this seems hopeless, since we cannot compete with the major cities in terms of size or reputation. But I deliberately say "seems" here and not "is, because we still have the best chances! But only if we grab it by the scruff of the neck.

New research institutes
The bond of science is, so to speak, the "key to success. Three elements are important:
1. Creating expansion opportunities for the university with a bridge across the itz into the city. Against the backdrop of further national and international programs – over 70 billion euros from the EU's "horizon 2020" program alone – we will expand existing research institutes and establish new ones.
2. Position coburg nationally as a science location through auberuniversitare research institutions. As one of the first locations of a university of applied sciences (HAW), we have established a fraunhofer application center. A great success, which until recently no one would have dared to believe, but which must now be pursued further in thought. We know from bayreuth how fast a fraunhofer working group can grow.
3. Giving space to the spirit of young university graduates. It's not just about square meters, but about a milieu for courageous creative minds from different disciplines. On the one hand, this involves intensifying cooperation with local industrial companies, for example in terms of engineering services, and on the other hand, it involves completely new fields, such as the life sciences or biotechnology.

Ex-husband killed? Woman charged with murder at age 84

Ex-husband killed? Woman charged with murder at age 84

Hooked in the arm of her defender, the 84-year-old enters the courtroom of the constance district court. Her gray hair falls into her face in dark streaks; under her sweeping jacket, the elderly woman appears slender, almost fragile.

It is hard to imagine what the prosecution is accusing her of: she is said to have hit her ex-husband’s head with a metal butcher’s hammer. When the 73-year-old man was able to take the hammer from her and dial the emergency number, the accused fetched gasoline, doused him with it and rounded him up.

The man died in agony, the prosecutor said. The act was unconscionable and showed a ruthless spirit. Because parts of the house also caught fire, the woman is accused of arson as well as murder.

(Dental) assistants pass their exams

(Dental) assistants pass their exams

It was a stylish ceremony with a wonderful ambience: 36 medical assistants and 19 dental assistants were officially recognized in the imperial hall of banz monastery, including three medical assistants who had completed their training in practices in the district of lichtenfels, namely rabea hoppel, janine dutsch and marie peter.

Barbara waldhauser, class teacher and chairwoman of the medical examination committee, pointed out, among other things, that this was a class with remarkable examination results. The 35 graduates and one graduate of the medical assistant program passed the chamber examination with an overall average of 2.78, and two participants even achieved a grade of 1 before the decimal point. 19 out of 20 dental assistants passed their examinations. The overall average here was 2.68, with four trainees achieving a "1" before the decimal point in front of the decimal point, two of them with an excellent average of 1.2. Unfortunately, the number of trainees in the health professions is also declining.

Jurgen illnitzky offered the congratulations of the district medical associations. He emphasized the importance of the professions: medical assistants are "the mainstay of the medical practice" and usually had the first contact with the patient. This is extremely important so that the patient feels well taken care of. Calmness, composure and friendliness are important prerequisites for dealing with the sometimes "very special charm of upper franconia" to handle.

A happy ending for katy perry

A happy ending for katy perry

Katy perry spurte a little time pressure. "A lot of things are at a standstill, quite a few musicians are completely refraining from releasing new songs right now. But I’m going on the offensive and I already feel like a working mom," says the 35-year-old U.S. Pop singer in an interview with the german press agency via zoom app from her home in los angeles.

With the new album "smile" and its date 28. August, perry was in a kind of race with herself: her daughter with hollywood actor orlando bloom (43) was supposed to see the light of day at about the same time. The baby was finally a little faster – the birth also stands for a happy ending.

The day before the "smile" release, perry and bloom happily told the world: "we are soaring with love and the miracle of our daughter’s safe and healthy arrival." The one gets the name daisy dove bloom, as the unicef ambassadors shared on thursday on the instagram account of the children’s aid organization.
