Rough jumps with the math kangaroo

What does a kangaroo have to do with mathematics?? – this question was posed by principal ulrich muller to the schoolchildren at the presentation of certificates and prizes for the kanguru competition. His assumption was that the solution to some tasks would be as difficult to discover as a baby kangaroo in its mother’s pouch. The 43 third- to sixth-grade students could not agree more. They had all experienced this for themselves when they had puzzled and tinkered at the beginning of march in order to collect as many points as possible.

The tasks developed by the university in berlin were less about computational skills and more about logical thinking and creativity. All the students who took up the challenge were rewarded with certificates and a Q-cube. This is a game of math kangaroo that keeps the gray cells on their toes. Mia kanz, sina daller, david stahl and lena suckfull were particularly pleased, receiving additional non-cash prizes for their outstanding performances. For the first time, h was also awarded a certificate in gold. Leandro hemberger had solved all the tasks flawlessly and completely.
